gibbo_ap Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 some may recall previous posts about what ppl have done to quell printing costs. after a meeting with our rm account manager we had been incontact with IOT and waiting to hear from another company or two concerning enterprise printing: cutting down on quant of printers and running management software on the servers, and follow-you printing. have any of you been down this route? what are your opinions?
srochford Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 We run Safecom; it works. I've previously used Equitrac. That didn't do follow me printing (not sure if it could have done) and it also worked well.
gibbo_ap Posted February 27, 2009 Author Posted February 27, 2009 when this was implemented did you go from a high number of printers then reduce and centralise?
dhicks Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 what are your opinions? Set up a generic postscript printer on a Windows Server 2003 machine for each course listed in your VLE. Have them redirect print jobs to PDF documents that you put in a folder corresponding to the name of the course. Assign appropriate printers to pupils via a login script. Now pupils can "print" their work straight to the VLE for marking. -- David Hicks
