gshaw Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Looks like our SAIT drive is dead now, tried it early on Friday and won't pick up on the fiber HBA at all Another card to test would be 500 quid, a possibility but instinct tells me it's the drive - if so we're a bit stuck as a new drive is still around 5k if there's anywhere that still does them So basically we need to backup around 400GB data, up until now we do a full backup every night. Need to have some way of keeping data offsite as we only have the one building. Don't really want a server in our IT Office if we can help it and there's nowhere really to put one elsewhere away from the server room. There is a chance of having the drive repaired but don't know how long it will take and I'm not that hapy with having a single USB 1TB HD being the source of the main backup with only 1 day restore ability... Got a few £k to do it with I'd hope so place your suggestions here
SkreeM1980 Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Is your HBA FC? if so get a HP Ultrium 960 series external FC, will do 400/800gb good and fast. We have a robotic library and get around 3 tapes full every night. Skr
gshaw Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 Yup it's a QLogic FC HBA, will have a look at that HP solution now
