Hello I maintain a network for a pimary school who use RM Explorer, managed using RM classmate, over time there has been a bit of a build up of dead shortcuts etc this causes RM Classmate to throw up the error "Cannot find the specified file" however as there is no indication as to what shortcut it was loading at the time there is (to my knowledge) no quick way of pin pointing which software title was at fault..

I have approx 100+ shortucts in each classrooms rm explorer and i have approx 12 classrooms so as you can guess process of elimination is no real option, does RM Classmate/Explorer have any logging function where i can see a log of errors that have occurred, this may intunr point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advanc

Hi Jamie,

If you look in C:\Documents and Settings\Classmate\Resources\?Class Name?\Curriculum Resources You will see the dead shortcuts, these are the ones not installed on that PC and are causing the error message.

To remove the dead ones from all classes you can use a command line or create a batch file

cd "C:\documents and settings\classmate\resources"

del /s "deadshortcut.lnk"
