Dokeos

So has anyone heard of this VLE?

 

Originally called Claroline (or something like that). It's by a bunch of french uni's, fully open-source... it's very good.

 

We use it here and apart from the version we're using having a borked scorm input system (which is resolved in a more up to date system) it's great. Very clean looking, very simple to use (not quite to setup... but then what decent VLE is?).

 

I havnt seen anything about it on here and just wanted to let everyone know about it really!

I know it's sometime since you posted this but I've only just stumbled on dokeos | Dokeos e-learning how are you getting on with it if you're still using it?

I looked at dokeos when I was in search of our vle. It was ok but lacked some of the modules that can be found formoodle. I also looked at drupal-ed. This one was good in it's theming ability but at the time but again lacked the modules. In the end we decided to put our Xserve to work and went with StudyWiz.

I wanted to go with studywiz after all my evaluations, but county had other ideas.......bad, bad, ideas

I wish I could tell you mate. We have been paying forit since June and have yet to install it since we can't get a 2nd ip address on the server. We currently have our website running on said server through apples apache, but StudyWiz install their own apache since they customise it so heavily. Due to this we need the seond IP to point to that that version which has yet to be done . As soon as it is up and running I will create an account for you to have a look at it if you want.

 

Interestingly though it is the only vle provider that would allow us to host the system on our own server resulting in the cost per annum to come down considerably.
