Willzzz Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Is there any way to bulk import documents to the document server? Say I have a load of files, each associated with an admission no or other unique identifier, is there any way to match them automatically to students? Or... What would be handy is if you could link to intranet pages from SIMS student details, e.g. http://schoolreports/report.asp?adno=13000 Anyone else find such a feature useful?
matt40k Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Not sure what you wanted on the second part. The first part, bulk import into SIMS - DocStorage, why do you have a load of reports and where from?
Willzzz Posted November 10, 2008 Author Posted November 10, 2008 I have used software other than SIMS to create school reports. It would be nice to be able to link these reports to SIMS.
matt40k Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Never heard of a Doc import into DocStorage. I know DocStorage stores them weird, it prob makes sense if the Capita Dev wants to explain. Might be worth asking Capita if they could import them for you. Would be chargable tho. Out of interested. How are the files saved? Might be worth asking how they are stored\named, then you might be able to just copy over with a new file name. Assuming there isn't a (complex) index.
