arakarakas Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Hey guys, I'm new here and was just wanting to get some information on capitas equivilent of CMIS's ePortal. How does it work? Does it cost extra on top of the standard SIMS license? And how easy is it to get working? Thanks in advance for you help guys.
kxv2020 Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 It called the SIMS.net Learning Gateway - its based on Sharepoint either the free version or the MOSS07 - and the Gateway is formed of webparts. You can deploy bits which you want through activation of certain webparts. Check out SIMS - Schools Information Management System - Capita Education Services and I think there is a demo there - i'm not sure if its the most recent version though!
Hoggy Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 There is 'one off' licence fee and then an annual maintenance cost for Sims Learning Gateway (SLG2). It can either be deployed by individual schools or the Local Authority can host it for a group of schools. The latter option works out cheaper and should save on lots of technical hassle for the schools. It might be worth asking your LA if they have any plans for it.
matt40k Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 UniServity has a partnership that can now pull from Capita SIMS .net, it's only READ at the moment, they want to get write but I don't think that will be happening. I believe it's cheaper then learning gateway, IMO it's really pants compared to Learning Gateway.
