Hi All,

I've been put forward and asked to take up the Data manager role at my school. I have no previous experience but have been told any and all training will be provided however i have a feeling this will focus on BromCom and my main worry being that my knowledge on excel is basic.

I was hoping to get ahead of the game and look some courses and do some reading before the new year starts but I'm unsure where to look any recommendations would be great as i am a little nervous.

Thanks

There's almost too much free training out there! There a a good number of online platforms, but start with https://www.coursera.org/search?query=excel&.

I'd suggest getting your head around building pivot tables as soon as possible and get to grips with filters in depth. Build your knowledge on formulas. If you find you are doing the same task repeatedly, look at recording and fine-tuning macros - but that is more advanced. Ultimately, it's real world challenges that it is best to learn with. And of course, post when you need advice on Edugeek - there are a few Excel experts here!
