CAM Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Staff governor position has come up for grabs at the school and I was wondering, would you run for the position as a data manager? Is it a conflict of interest for someone with a high level of access to the school's sensitive data and responsibility to generate the school's KPI's to be on the governing body?
LosOjos Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 I can't see how it would be conflict of interest TBH - at the end of the day, as the DM you simply produce data based on the facts - if you twist those facts to your own gain then yes, of course that's wrong, but that would be true of any job. There's no reason you can't be a DM and Governor as far as I can see
tombry Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Not the same thing - but when I went to apply to be a governor at my kids' school, I had the same concern - my Head saw no problem with it - and indeed would like me at the governor meetings for our school, but the other school's head said it would be a conflict of interest for me to sit in their meetings while working on data at my school. I withdrew my application then.
