Hi, bit of a niche one here but we're really stuck in a rut at the minute and don't have the expertise needed to fix this ourselves! If anyone has any experience with braille printers/embossers & braille translation software config, your help would be greatly appreciated and I'd owe you multiple drinks!

We've got an Index Basic D-V5 Braille Embosser, and use Duxbury Braille Translation to convert all of their schoolwork to Braille & print it out for them to use - this worked perfectly up until the embosser packed up and needed to be sent off for repair.

We've been given another embosser, but it had different braille settings for another school it was previously based at. We've tried matching up the embosser and duxbury settings as close as we can with the knowledge we've got, but the device constantly complains about a formatting error and refuses to print out anything from Duxbury. Everyone we've spoken to essentially says that we just need to match up the braille settings on both the embosser and the output from Duxbury, but no matter what we try it never seems to work.

Does anyone have any experience with this setup or similar, or know of any resources we can use or contacts we can speak with to try and solve this ourselves? We've contacted the embosser creators, duxbury supplier and the embosser suppliers - all have been very helpful to us but this one formatting issue is still lingering and we've not been able to solve it, putting the student at a real disadvantage.

Cheers all

Yep - unfortunately the LA provided the device & licenses, they gave us the contact details of the relevant companies for support - they're in the same boat as generally all of the devices are preconfigured for them, just this one we've been given has had all sorts done to it before reaching us.

Yeah generally they were really good at helping us get it set up initially and have always been happy to pass over what info they've got, but most of the information came from the TA at the student's previous school as she'd learned everything she could about the device & software to get it all sorted herself.
