Reading software

Does anyone have any good experiences or recommendations of software for reading out text (which could be in a browser, Word, PDF etc)?

 

We've tried the Windows built in Narrator but its terrible with PDFs and a bit clunky with Word. Ideally we just want something that will reliably read out a paragraph of highlighted text

Read and Write from texthelp. we have been using it for years with kids who need it. Worth the expense.
