We are trying to create a system which allows teachers to login to any of a range of subscription services with a single log in. There are lots of expensive options (eg from IBM) but I was hoping to find a cheap one - anyone have any ideas?

Doesn't that have to integrate with the actual service though, so the provider has to use it as well as the client. It's not something you can just use to log on to everything.

as temp measure you could run yuor own server to do what you want it to do and then move over when national server comes online..

also contact lea as they might have there single sign on etc up up and running and makes sense to link into them

Depends on the log in methods for the different services and what username/passwords your teachers are using to log in to them. If they were using the same one for all it's possible you could have them login to a page on your intranet and then write php/asp or whatever to pass their login/password combo onto the sites you have signed up for.

If they are using different combos for different sites you would have to have them register their details in a database against the different sites.

It's definately doable.
