talksr Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 I am not sure if this is an issue affecting other schools but I have had a number of users who when they come to save a newly created document in M365 Word App on their Windows 11 system, it is saving the newly created document as a .ODT. If they open a pre-existing DOCX, it saves in the DOCX format. Upon looking at their settings in the Word App, I have idenfitied that 'Save files in this format' is set to OpenDocument Text (*.ODT). I have changed this to DOCX. Why on earth would this app be using ODT as a default? The users have not configured this and I can't see any way that this would be configuring to save in ODT. The apps are deployed to all devices in Intune in the Apps section. The apps are part of the Microsoft 365 Apps (Windows 10 and later). If I look at the properties for the app, there is a 'Default file format' option which is currently set to Open Office Document Format: However, if I edit the app suite, the only two options for Default file format are: Open Office Document Format and Office Open XML Format. Has anyone else had this issue and found a workaround?
jmak Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Office Open XML format is correct - .docx etc I haven't had any issues with that not applying though. 1
