EZ Write versus other online slides

Hi,

 

I would appreciate some advice, I'm a teacher at a primary school. I'm not overly tech savvy so please be patient!

 

My school want to move over to chromebooks in the near future which means we will need use an online based planning system. We currently use smart notebooks (the free version currently). This means we will need to convert all of our plans over to an online platform. We have looked at EZ write but I have a few niggles with it:

 

1) I can't install a font - can only use the ones provided (I can do this on smart notebook)

2) I can't seem to switch the order of the slides once they are created (I can do this on smart notebook)

3) When I import smart notebook files it messes up the formatting and I seem to have to spend ages moving things around to reformat.

 

4) I can only have one EZ write slideshow open at one time. (I can have multiple smart notebooks open)

 

 

Does anyone here use EZ write? I would appreciate thoughts on it and if you have found it easy to use.

 

I was also wondering if any other schools who only have chromebooks for teachers use Smart Notebook Plus and the online Lumio?

I have never used a chromebook but there is a smart notebook viewer chrome extension. The reviews are mixed but it might be worth installing the extension and trying to open a notebook file with it?

The reviews are mixed but it's worth five minutes of your time to test, all you would need is the google chrome browser installed on something.

We use Chromebooks across our schools. Never heard of EZ Write. Most users use Google Slides which is very good. Changing Slide order is just a matter of dragging them around. We also use Canva which give you all sort of fancy tools that can be deployed free for educational institutions.

 

If you have stuff as Smart Notebook files - they can be converted to Slides. Export the file from Smart Notebook as pptx and then open up in Slides and you can select File > save as Google Slides and off you go. Typically a teacher might just share a folder of files with us and we would do this for them).

 

You won't be installing custom fonts on a Chromebook. In Slides and any other Google tool you have access to around a 1000 Google fonts. I generally try to avoid the use of custom fonts as the never work well off the device where the font is installed.
