OneDrive KFM Takes ages to redirect

Hi everyone,

 

We are in the process of moving all our staff files to OneDrive and have applied the GPO's for OneDrive to silently sign in and redirect known folders however when a user logs in for the first time it takes an age (>10 mins for staff with lots of files) for OneDrive to cache the directory structure before it actually does the KFM in Windows. This means that staff cant access their desktop/documents straight away and i can already tell I'm going to get thousands of "my files are all missing" in September...

 

Is this normal behavior or is something wrong with our setup?

Is your OneDrive installed with the /Allusers flag?

 

Worth a test, I seem to remember a while back it would work quicker at startup when installed like this father than in the users appdata folder.

Ten minutes does sound excessive. However, I think this is standard behavior and will depend on your Internet speed and, as you say, number of files. However, once the catalog has been built, it should be nice and quick at next logon. For teaching PC, we keep profiles for 90 days, and 30 days for student PC. For office PC, we don't delete profiles.
