Canva and Google SAML / SSO

We are looking to push out Canva to all users and implement SSO.

 

I have set up SSO on Google and it's linked to Canva but i've not enabled the "SSO required for everyone with a verified domain email, even outside of your organisation (aka. domain capture)."

 

To be honest, I don't get it! I really don't!! I don't get the whole Canva stuff.

 

Teams - what are they supposed to be? Are they Schools? Are they groups in schools? Who is best to manage all this because my word it's not an IT Support job isn't this!

 

Classes - are these to be managed by those the teachers of the school?

 

I thought Canva would have imported the users for each school automatically.

 

It seems half finished to me.

 

Anyone out there able to give any pointers to how this actually works please.

We have Canva across our Trust - 28 schools on Google Workspace. Since I set it up its taken pretty much zero amount of time.

 

For us:

Teams = Schools/Central Teams Members

 

Classes - don't use.

 

To make the SSO work, we do groups mapping. So I have a dynamic group for each school called [email protected] and then this identifies the users "Team".

 

Then we have a custom attribute to identify a user as staff or student.

 

In the admin console for Canva - you can turn on and off the AI stuff and control what students have access to. But I don't look at it very often.

 

Was a bit of a faff to setup - but people love it and it gets a lot of use.
