Hi All,

I would like to know if its ok to put a radio station widget onto your webpage for people to listen to. I have an internet radio station and they provide many different widgets. The radio is licensed with the organisation that i run my station through, so long as you direct people to your miscosite or use their app. The widgets connect directly to your miscosite, and so anyone listening via the widget player is actually streaming from your licensed miscrosite page. I am being told that the widget (that they provide) is not licensed because you are broadcasting from your webpage. To my mind this means that every single radio station on the web that puts a player onto their website is breaking the law. This does not sound right to me, especially as it is linking directly to your licensed pages. Can anyone help with this?

That does sound confusing. It seems like you're doing everything to ensure your radio station is licensed correctly, so it's odd to hear there might be issues with using the widget provided by your station. Many websites feature radio players linked directly to licensed pages, so it's worth exploring further or seeking clarification directly from your licensing organization or legal advisor. They should be able to clarify whether using the widget complies with licensing agreements.
