mrrichards Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 I've been asked to look into a SIMS "add on" module by my manager which can allow the timetabling and registering of students outside of the normal school day. Our school day is 4 periods long but it has been necessary for at least one class in year 12 to have a lesson after school - during what could be considered as period 5. Only the teacher and those students should see this additional period, for everyone else it should not be visible. My manager says he seems to remember hearing about a SIMS add on module that would allow this. I've had a bit of a poke around on here and elsewhere and I've come up with SIMS Activities and CHQ. Both of these look like they are designed for extra curricular clubs etc. I'm not sure they are exactly what he had in mind, eg. do they write data back to student attendance? Is there such a module that can achieve this that I am unaware of? My other thoughts would be to create a 5 period day in Nova and leave the 5th period empty unless it is required by a class and teacher? Thanks.
bobsmith Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 yeah - your school day structure should allow this 5th period if it's a timetabled lesson. Sims activities is for clubs and trips - not adding a random period of y12 physics. However you could make it do that - but why pay extra for that module when you can just timetable the 5th period..... It's always good when your manager "seems to remember" some solution to a problem they created....
