Apple School Manager & LightSpeed Zero Touch Deployment for iPads?

Hi there,

Does anyone know if it is possible to achieve ZT deployment with Apple School Manager and Lightspeed?

 

Currently, we purchase our iPads from our approved supplier, they add the devices to our Apple School Manager so they are activation locked to our organisation.

 

We then download our Apple Bulk Enrollment profile for Apple Configurator from Lightspeed.

We load this into Apple Configurator on our Macbook and then plug in the devices and apply the profile to each device along with a WiFi profile. We can then set up the iPads and they hold the Lightspeed profile which enables them to recieve all of the Apps we purchase on ASM and approve on Lightspeed.

 

Problem is the Macbook is dead and the school doesn't have the funds to replace it. So I was wondering if there is a way of bypassing the need to have a Macbook or any device to set them up. I was wondering if there was a way to just do it all through Apple School Manager so the profile will be automatically installed to each device when you sign into it with your administrator account?

If the devices are added to ASM by the supplier then you just link Lightspeed as an MDM and the device will auto install the profile when first booted up….

Thank you, it was. Just waiting for the devices to show in ASM and I will give it a try.

It can take a few hours for them to show once the supplier has put them on.

You also need to wait (or force) Lightspeed to pull them in and ensure a Lightspeed profile is being assigned automatically

Ah thanks. Where abouts in LS would I find this? Particularly the assigning automatically part?
