mdrabble Posted August 21, 2023 Posted August 21, 2023 I'm having one of these days where no matter how much I try and follow the Smoothwall guides for setting up VPN, it just isnt happening. I've logged a ticket but I can see this being a long wait, so I've come here for help. I need to create a VPN connection to a single VM (sounds simple enough but try telling my brain that!) Anyone done this before that can help? - Looking at IPSEC using a shared Key as VPN will be removed after a week and no longer used. Cheers in advance
ibpalle Posted August 21, 2023 Posted August 21, 2023 Should be simple enough but vpns are always tricky - so many parameters that have to fit. Are you trying to create a VPN between 2 smoothwalls so you can access a VM or are you wanting to create a tunnel between a Smoothwall and a VM.
mdrabble Posted August 21, 2023 Author Posted August 21, 2023 Trying to create an tunnel from Smoothwall to a VM. It for a Pen Tester to access a VM to do some Pen Testing. When I try and create the VPN it keeps telling me the client IP is not on an internal subnet - which it is. All internal subnets are on Smoothwall, so I have no idea why it keeps telling me this. Having a break from it since this morning I was going to try again this evening but not had chance to revisit it yet.
ibpalle Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 So an ipsec VPN to what VM OS type? What software is the VM client using if any?
