CMIS How to make lecturer details mandatory

Hello, at our university in Scotland we use CMIS for timetabling and one of the problems we have with data quality is missing lecturer details.

What is a solution to make filling lecturer details mandatory?

I was told the field could be made mandatory but a name would have to be selected from the list, which would not work for external lecturers which are known later in the process and teach break type events where you wouldn't want to attach a lecturer to the event.

Any solutions? Thanks!
