Squelch Posted March 29, 2023 Posted March 29, 2023 Dear Hive mind, Satellite Pro C50-H-11B For an unclear reason, the bios update failed on one of these laptops. I won't go into the gory details but I am left with a laptop that will not post. The screen comes on and so does the power light but nobody is home. Dynabook technical support suggested disconnecting the battery for an hour, I left it and the CMOS battery disconnected overnight but that made no difference. It is not cost effective to replace the motherboard so before I recycle it.. It has an AMI bios. Can anyone help with recovery options? I have more of the same model laptop in case it's possible to extract the bios from another one. The bios update file doesn't give you any options to save the current bios like an HP bios update does. It's an exe that just updates when run.
SYNACK Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 Perhaps an in place bios reader/writer to copy from one to the other. Will dupe the serial dmi though https://www.amazon.com/Organizer-Socket-Adpter-Programmer-CH341A/dp/B07R5LPTYM/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=bios+programmer&qid=1680247603&sr=8-4 1
Squelch Posted March 31, 2023 Author Posted March 31, 2023 I was hoping for a generic bios file for AMI that I could at least make the laptop post with and then re-flash from the bios. I don't think it's going to happen though.
