In a career covering education policy, edtech and a range of senior leadership positions I've come across many schools who have changed their management information system, or are actively considering doing so. Indeed in one of my roles I helped some of them through the process. It's a mammoth undertaking, laden with risk but also with considerable potential benefits. Based on these perspectives I've put together this paper for schools and trusts who are seriously thinking about changing.

 

I'm sure others have written more eloquently and comprehensively about this. If anyone can point to such a piece, please flag it up. My intention is to get the best possible set of collateral into the hands of anyone making this decision.

 

This is agnostic; you will find a mix of advocates and deprecators for any management system. What's important is to enter into the process with an open mind and to undertake really good due diligence. I have in mind two more papers - making the most of your current system and managing the migration process, but let's see if you like this one first!
