Dell Powervault md3200i - flashing orange light and fan on high constantly

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Good morning,

Due to an electrical issue we had to power down our server room over the weekend.

Everything seems to have powered up ok and we have access to all data etc but the powervault is in a faulting state in that the orange light is flashing and the fan is constantly on high speed.

When opening the MDSM software I'm greeted with a message saying 'This storage array contains a RAID controller module that you have not added' (full error message attached).

I have very limited experience with this powervault and don't want to do the wrong thing and mess things up.

Can anyone advise what I need to do please?

Many thanks in advance.

Is the Modular Disk Storage Manager Agent running on the host

Starting or Restarting the Host-Agent Software inWindowsThe host-agent software module is the software component that resides onthe server or management station that communicates with the MD3000 orMD3000i external storage enclosures. The SMagent software automaticallystarts after you reboot the host. If you add a storage array after the host serverhas started, or iSCSI sessions are created while the SMagent is running, or theStorage Array 29server or management station is unable to communicate with the MD3000 orMD3000i, you must restart the SMagent software manually using thefollowing procedure:1 Click Start → Settings → Control Panel → Administrative Tools →Services.orClick Start → Administrative Tools → Services.2 In the Services dialog, select Modular Disk Storage Manager Agent.3 If the Modular Disk Storage Manager Agent is running, clickAction → Stop, then wait approximately 5 seconds.4 Click Action → Start

Thanks for response.

Just checked. Yes it is and I tried restarting the agent and it hasn't changed the 'needs attention' status sadly.
