managed apple Id's and Jamf

Hey Guys,

 

New to the group and happy to be here. At our school we have about 400 devices that go home with the students and come back at the end of the School year. For the past 3 years we have been entering the managed apple ID from apple school manager in each device, then assigning them to their department in Jamf. It's Tideous and I hate it. There has to be a better way to do this. I do this in case if the students get a replacement ipad, that they can retrieve all their files. Does anyone have a better way? Thanks in advance.

If this is a 1:1 iPad scheme why on earth are you configuring them all ? Give the iPad to the student with their Managed Apple ID details to enter, I've deployed over 400 x iPads in a single day using this method.

Once you have the Managed Apple ID's in place in ASM and the classes set up import all this into Jamf and ensure each iPad is activated with a Managed Apple ID.

I have their managed apple ID's in ASM but no classes or anything else. Our school doesn't use apple classroom. Do I HAVE to enter the ''classes" section in order for this to work? Thanks for your reply.
