toffee_paul Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 Hi, We have a teacher who wants to bring in Apple Classroom in for use on a set of dedicated iPads. I've read that one of the requirements is to use School Data Sync to set up users/pupils. We already have our users synced from our local AD to our Azure AD tenant via Azure AD Connect. Will SDS try to upload pupils from our MIS to Azure AD and if so how will this affect the users who already exist on Azure AD ? Thanks
Brimstone Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 There are 3 ways for Apple Classroom to be configured: Ad Hoc Classes, this is where the iPads all have the classroom app and the teacher invites students with a code. MDM Created Classes, this solely uses your MDM solution to create the classes and teachers, not all MDM's support this way Apple School Manager created classes, this relies on all students and teachers to have an account in ASM with a Managed Apple ID signed into the iPad Each solution requires devices to be associated with specific user in your MDM solution. https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/classroom/apdd491bf924/ipados 1
