Guest Guest Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Hi, Upgraded the Routing and Remote access server today after having problems with starting the Routing and Remote Access service, basically it was fine on 2016 then fresh install of 2019 and nothing but service start errors and more head banging. I’ve upgraded the server to 2022 and still no luck. Any thoughts?
georgeescott Posted May 12, 2022 Posted May 12, 2022 (edited) First result on Google for “The callback function must be invoked inline” seems to indicate it’s NPS starting before RRAS and blocking it from starting properly. See: http:// https://serverfault.com/questions/948982/windows-server-2019-vpn-error-8007042a-after-kb4480116. Edited May 12, 2022 by georgeescott
free780 Posted May 12, 2022 Posted May 12, 2022 It looks like the latest Windows Updates are causing issues with computer certificates to n NPS and RRAS.
CHiLL Posted May 12, 2022 Posted May 12, 2022 I don't know if it's related to your issue, but I had issues when I upgraded our NPS server to 2022. I had to restore the server back to it's pre-upgrade state. As soon as I did, NPS and therefore the VPN started working straight away. If your NPS is on Server 2022, consider rolling it back. If it's not on Server 2022, then it might not be this issue.
