Remote Access for admins & Selected users

Hi all,

I know this has been mentioned a lot in the forum lately with new services that have recently come out Ie: Windows 365, Azure Virtual Desktop etc but I am starting to work remotely part time so I need to be able to access the network via my Admin laptop which as of today I have setup Remote Access VPN and it’s working great but where I live vodaphone broadband is total Sh$$t and I’m trying to think of other ways to setup a remote solution so that I can login to my admin laptop using my domain credentials and it works just like a normal laptop as if I was sat at my desk.

I’m not sure using Remote Access is at all safe in this day and age but it is using SSTP with a trusted cert so I thought it would be best to reach out to some fellow edugeekers.

Many thanks!

I’ve just noticed that as soon as I make a download opening file explorer becomes super slow - looking forward to remote work \0/

- office has 800/900 mbps or so and I don’t understand why it’s so dang slow

Have you tested your internet speed at home on a wired connection?

SSL VPNs tend to seem a bit slower than IPSEC VPNs. IPSEC takes a bit more work to setup.

At the moment it’s just a sstp connection with a ssl and that’s about it really.

I wonder though, I am wanting to be able to login as normal via the little computer icon on the other user page where I just sign into the vpn and it gives me access as though I’m just sat at my desk.

Corporate (as I like to call it) has a gigabit link 800 up 52 down. At home it’s 28 :(
