simpsonj Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 Essentially we use Classroom Cloud to monitor devices, and use the lock function. However, students have found that to remove the lock screen, all they need to do is close their lid and reopen it, and they have full access again. Presumable because as the lid is closed, the Chromebook goes to sleep, turning off the WiFi and disconnecting from Classroom Cloud. So, is there anyway of preventing managed Chromebooks from sleeping when the lid is closed? Or keeping the WiFi turned on? Both seem possible, but either I can't find the right settings in Google Admin, or they don't exist.
ItechDave Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 Morning, I think the only options you have on the lid being closed are logout or sleep. unfortunately this doesn't really help you. 1
simpsonj Posted April 25, 2022 Author Posted April 25, 2022 Classroom cloud have a setting that prevents closing the lid from disconnecting from the session, so from that point of view it's resolved. It would be nice to have the ability to change close lid behaviour in Google admin though!
paulkerton Posted April 25, 2022 Posted April 25, 2022 We have devices set to log out when lid closes. Another step that makes them not want to bother closing the lid, tbh!
