ExamWritePad - hide the status bar?

Hello, is there a way to hide the status bar in ExamWritePad? Our laptops are not always connected to the network so the time displayed isn't accurate and with clocks in the room it would just be easier to hide it on screen. Thanks

Not so much hide but you can set EWP to full screen so it sits over the statusbar

I don't know if this is a bug or not. If a student leaves a completed ExamWritePad file open after their device, if the document is opened on another machine at the same time, does it show a blank document?

 

This is something that I've encountered for at least a couple of years, spanning multiple versions. At the end of an exam, we are asked by the invigilators to print the work for the student, as they can't do it themselves. We use ExamWritePad from a shared drive (for easiness to managed/update), so I open the saved exam document from the exam account's home folder on my own machine (using the same ExamWritePad the students use). However, when I open the document, it's blank. I can see that the file is ?KB in size, so there is information in there. I have to resort to either going through the auto save backup files (and usually the latest ~10 copies are also blank), or I have to re-save it with a new file name, where I can then open the document on my machine to print.

 

I'll try and replicate it myself today, but I may not get chance.

Hi, EWP never keep the document file open permanently.

 

On open: open the file and read the contents then close the file, disposing of it in memory.

 

On save: open the file and save all the counts to it then close it, disposing of it it memory.

 

But I will do my own testing this weekend to see what happens. But ours once an exam is finished should always close down EWP once done; this should be a necessary instruction given to each pupil so that the invigilators or exam officer don’t have to keep doing it for them ready for the next exam to start.
