Looking for Deployment Advice with Windows 11 SE device

Hi everyone,

 

We have just purchased a Windows Surface SE with 11 SE to trial it and compare it with Google Chromebooks which we have a large amount of already.

Impressions so far are that it being white will quickly show the dirt. Designed by someone that has never worked in a school.

The screen is of a low quality as well with poor viewing angles but of course this device is built to a budget so not expecting high end.

 

I am pretty new to the Microsoft 365 experiencing as I'm use to Google Suite and Chromebooks.

 

I logged into the device as a student test account (school account option). We have Azure AD connect syncing our accounts already and leverage the A1 plus free licences for students and staff but don't have A3 or A5 at the moment.

It took quite some time for the account to be setup and it asks for 2FA on setting up the account. It then forces you to create a PIN for the device and the usual Windows questions about privacy etc. after all of this you are finally logged in.

 

I then logged out and tried another account thinking the process will now be alot faster but it goes through all the setting up messages and 2FA and PIN setup for every user that logs in.

 

What is even worse is that the 1st account that was used to setup the device can no longer log in saying the "Login method is not allowed" and even trying to reset via PIN says the pin is wrong when it is definitely correct.

I'm now doing a complete Reset of the device after breaking it in just under an hour of unboxing.

So far from my experience this is not comparable with a Chromebook at all.

 

It's new, so I'm hoping that its a case that I don't have Azure or something not setup yet that will make this experience for students seemless, to login with a username and password and your straight to the desktop without any messages asking to set a PIN or 2FA.

 

Can anyone that is a seasoned Microsoft 365 school point me to the best place to start looking or PM.
