titch Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 Hi In haste I removed the "TYPE" column from my SharePoint library. This is the column that shows the little picture to the left of the file name and NOT the addable column "FILE TYPE" . I've checked my other libraries I can see "TYPE" in the SHOW/HIDE column list but now I have removed the "TYPE" column from this library I cant see a way of getting it back. Any help on this appreciated as its starting to make my library hard to use!. Thanks
Steve21 Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 Not sure if it's the same on all sharepoints, but on our online one can't you go it edit view and re-tick it? Type (icon linked to document) <- Steve
titch Posted January 3, 2022 Author Posted January 3, 2022 Thanks so much for the reply. The only options I have are in the screenshot above. You wouldn't mind showing me where you see Type (icon linked to document) in case I'm being a numpty?
Steve21 Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 That's in the column settings, but the main view I mean: Steve 1
titch Posted April 14, 2022 Author Posted April 14, 2022 Just to follow up with this in case anyone ever stumbles on this thread. I didn't have the same options as in the attached picture. My random fix was to turn everything back on. This strangely brought back the correct option for me. I could then happily turn everything o didn't need off. I "think" there's some kind of typo in SharePoint that changes the name of the field o wanted when turned off. I didn't have the time to check each field bit one of them worked and is incorrectly named. Hope that helps somebody.
