Zabbix - Grafna Dashboards questions

I've installed Zabbix and have it monitoring switches and APs at present - hopefully will add the agent to my Hyper-V cluster at some point.

 

I've installed Grafana and I'm having a play and creating a couple of dashboards and so far so good.

 

For a UP/DOWN dashboard for switches/APs. - Am I best using using ICMP or SMP availability to determine if a device is up or down?

- If using ICMP, how often does it ping the device?

- If using SNMP availability, how often does that check?

 

For Traffic graphs, I have noticed there is approx. 5 mins lag in the graphs in Zabbix and Grafana, so the graphs in Grafana are always behind..... is this by design or am I missing something or doing something wrong??
