The terrestrial channel will broadcast an episode of the BritBox show, allowing viewers to see the episode without a subscription to the streaming platform.

 

The channel confirms: "Following the successful return of the show last autumn, Spitting Image returns to ITV for a one-off Halloween Special shortly after the premiere on BritBox."

 

Last October, ITV aired an episode of the puppet show in the run-up to the US election. The broadcast secured an audience of 4.4 million, the highest Saturday night ratings at that time in four years.

 

Spitting Image Series 22 - the second series for BritBox -continues weekly, with a new episode published on the streaming platform each Saturday. The Halloween special will be available from Saturday 30th October, with ITV then showing the episode on a yet to be confirmed day between the 30th October and 5th November.

Some weeks Spitting Image is on fire and is funny time after time.

Some weeks (like last week) it was a dud.

Usually have something that pushes the boundaries. The gay innuendo jokes with Tom Daley and his husband last week felt out of the 1970s, and people were FURIOUS with the introduction of Jess Phillips as "Viral".

 

But then they do jokes like CSI: MOTD or Bezos and Musk battling to go to Mars and Branson appearing as this weedy hanger on, that are pitch perfect.
