[2004, 20h2] 20H2 - Task Host issues on log off

I've taken the plunge and done a fresh install on a number of workstations from 1909 to 20H2

 

Since then I have noticed on the 20H2 machines are stalling on log off with

 

Task Host is stopping the background taks. (\Microsoft\Windows\international\Synchronize Language Settings)

 

My googlefu has turned up nothing - so has anyone else having these issues etc?

Maybe try some of the GPO options in:

Computer Configuration->Policies->Administrative Templates->Windows Components->Sync your settings

If anyone has this, the issue is with the CDPSvc and the CDPUserSvc which can be found at:

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\CDPSvc

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\CDPUserSvc

 

There will be an entry in there called Start. We have had to change this from 4 to 2.

 

For some reason we had this set as 4 and i have a feeling it was set to 4 because of a historical issue in an earlier build of Windows 10 - could have been the black screen issue from many years ago.
