Hi there,

I have realised an annoying part of my job is password resets.

The process of generating a suitable password, looking for the correct student, changing the password and pasting it into a "your password is/ your username is" template for children, exporting to pdf and finally sending this to a staff member who sends it home/to the pupil is rather tedious.

How does everyone else do it?

I'd love to be able to automate the whole process somehow or at least make it quicker.

We set up Azure Self Service password reset just before lockdown and it's been a god send. Very very rare do I need to do a reset now.

If I do, I use the students date of birth along with some text. I have a webpage on our website which doesn't appear in the menu, but is public. It's got instructions on how to login. Working out your username and password. Follow by how to change your password. I send them / parents a link to this.

This page was used for new starters to start with but has been used for resets as well.

I setup azure self password reset - emailed out details to all staff and students on how to set up and use.

Have they taken any notice?? NO!

What gets me is that they been logging into office 365/SHMW since lockdown and we still get emails for resets!

Normally it comes from parents - so I check email against one held on sims.net and reply with a randomly set password which forces change on logon.
