Afternoon all,

We currently have 2 Hyper-V hosts local to themselves with a 3rd server that backs it all up.

We want to move back to a Hyper-V cluster(we found a SAN update to be prohibitively expensive with the dropping of EqualLogic when we last refreshed).

Our plan is to continue to use the 2 hosts in a 2 node cluster, maybe adding another soon, and use the current backup server(all 740Xd) as a form of shared storage for the cluster.

I know things have come a long way in the days of our old SAN based cluster, so how would you turn that server into something the hosts can use? SoFS, S2D, SolarWinds, Free/TrueNAS, UnRaid etc.

We will probably be adding a second server to the storage at some point, so we would have cluster at the Hyper-V and cluster at the storage level, so we can in effect lose a server from each and still limp along(as long as 2 in each don't go ;) )

Any advice or pointers appreciated :)

Thanks

James
