Tech13 Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Hi all, I'm hoping you can shed some light for me. We are currently working with Smoothwall due to our appliance getting bogged down with hits to google services the main culprit being signaler-pa.clients6.google.com we have had over 3 million hits in 24 hours. Does anyone have any advice or seen this happen on their appliance? Thank you
SpaceInvader83 Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 What auth method are you using? We once had it with a certain version of Chrome OS on our Chromebooks when we were using proxy authentication, each chromebook would constantly prompt for auth (expected behaviour was to prompt a handful of times then cease) and we ended up with a similar crazy amount of high hits, I think I ended up whitelisting SSL inspection for google.com to give me time to look into delve through logs, it ended up being a bug in a Chrome OS release.
Tech13 Posted December 9, 2020 Author Posted December 9, 2020 Thanks for the reply. We are using Google Auth. We have a shed load of Chromebooks but they are all on the latest release and this error has been happening for some time i.e. cross releases. What was the bug if you can remember?
SpaceInvader83 Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Have you been able to narrow it down to certain users or devices from a report on that url? I've not got the bug ID but it was ages back, it was fixed in Chrome OS v71.
Tech13 Posted December 9, 2020 Author Posted December 9, 2020 Yes I have some examples but it's a large sample?
