Intune for student laptops

Never seen or used Intune - so currently looking at different laptops which will be used by students which will be used and kept at home.

 

Have AOVPN setup and seems to work well - so at a push I could use SCCM to manage things - but this relies on the student having internet access.

 

So my next thought was set up as a standalone lapotop so they can use it offline and when it does connect to the internet, I could use something like Intune to manage them - only no idea about Intune.

 

Can I ask for those using Intune to manage laptops kept and used offsite - how and what to you manage on them?
