New laptop with no VGA output in a class with VGA only cabling () and old smartboard 4:3

We purchased an adapter to convert HDMI to VGA (not a powered one) and I can duplicate

display ok to projector but of course image is small.

Teacher wants image to fill the smartboard so I dropped the resolution to 1024x768 and duplicated

display but the benq projector still reports to be receiving a full HD signal.

Any ideas ?

If the projector has an "auto adjust" button or similar try that. Also it will be worth checking the refresh rate setting because I have had that cause a 4:3 projector try to project in 16:9 and changing the refresh rate sorted that.

does the BenQ have a HDMI input? (will depend on age) if so can you re-cable with HDMI, it's potentially worth it as often takes away teachers resolution issues.

you should also be able to force the resolution on the projector to a fill? drop BenQ_ChrisM a PM or UK helpdesk, and either can guide you this through.

Hi,

Can you drop me a message detailing the model of projector you have and the adapter you are using. The image should be able to fill the screen, only reason why it wouldn't is if the adapter itself is sending a 1080p image regardless of what resolution it is receiving.
