W10 1909 Automatic Repair Loop

I upgraded the school from W7 to W10 1909 EDU over summer and every morning I'm getting a couple of machines stuck in the automatic repair loop. I've googled many solutions, chkdsk, repair boot sector etc but still no joy and end up re-imaging. Has anyone come across this before? I'm a bit stumped. This has only started since pupils have returned and started using the machines. The machines power down every night and startup at 7am each morning.

Have you tried disabling automatic repair?

Yes, I then get the Recovery screen that says your PC couldn't start properly. It will let me go into startup settings from there but when I try to boot into safe mode it says your PC ran into a problem.

So i had this issue with two PC's at my place. It came down to the SSD's being crap...

 

I replaced it with some spare SSD's i had and it solved the issue. Is it actually getting to the Windows Loading stage or is it just instantly going into repair ? Bit of a bitch to solve it was for me...

I have some older Toshiba 120gb ssd drives in these machines and was beginning to think they couldn't cope with W10 but it seems to be just one model of PC, Lenovo Thinkcentre E71 which have also had the issue with mechanical drives. Looking on google it does suggest that these are not compatible with W10. I have re-imaged them with LTSC rather than 1909 and they are holding at the minute but it is just a shot in the dark. I suspect it's a weird driver issue. It's happens on boot, they get to the login screen on the domain then the screen starts to flash between the login screen and the blue loading screen with wheel of dots. I have to button the machine and then it gets stuck in the repair loop. Edited September 12, 2020 by ticktock
