Dual File-On-Demand - Cloud Storage (OneDrive + another)

Good Afternoon All,

 

As a bit of side work, trying to sort some bits out for a small company and struggling to think of an easy way to do something they're requested.

 

Short version, is they currently use OneDrive Business (Using FoD) storage for most their items, but as it's got a lot of archived stuff on (lots of images/videos) etc, they want to make sure it's in two locations, so want to use another cloud service to store it in.

 

Now without duplicating storage locally on every device, is there any nice way to have 2 copies of data in 2 cloud services without manually uploading to both constantly?

 

GDrive doesn't let them use FileStream without Ent account (but that is an option), Dropbox has SmartSync, but even that still has the problem of having to drop files into both areas constantly. I've tried before personally linking one folder to two syncs and it went horribly wrong so that seems out the question

 

Any wonderful thoughts, or tips?

Depending on their internet connection, could you buy a NAS with enough storage, then configure cloud syncing to two services (OneDrive and GDrive for example)

Aye, did consider doing something like that, but then it'll break their FoD availability on laptops etc while offsite (If you un-map that), else if you leave it in place you'll have issues with people saving back to OneDrive directly, and it not sync'ing across to GDrive/Dropbox etc

The NAS would just sync from OneDrive, no one would save to it or work off it (Unless they wanted to). So long as it was setup with a two way sync for both services, it's just acting like a PC signed in to both services, syncing away. Otherwise you could look at cloud backup providers.

Ah I see what you mean, sorry thought you meant like mapped drive style.

 

Aye that's a good idea, I suppose even more it means you don't even need to use GDrive etc on the users devices unless it's for backup etc, they still just use OneDrive as normal and it's all magic in the background. That's a good idea!

Can recommend 'goodsync' which will sync anything to anything. Whilst I was migrating machines to being cloud only I synced a few fileshares between on prem and a sharepoint site, syncing both ways. It can pretty much to to and from any source, and it cost buttons to buy,
