Chromebook Keyboard Replacement - Plastic rivets?

Curious how others do this, or if you know of any decent parts sellers!

 

I've got an ASUS C202SA chromebook and the keyboard is presenting as faulty. Powers on when opening the lid, keyboard unresponsive on sign in and pressing the "T" key seems to instantly power it off, I suspect liquid damage.

 

I've had a look online and can source the keyboard direct from China on eBay but it looks as though the keyboard is one of the lovely ones which has the loads of melted plastic rivets as per the photo below.

 

 

Getting the existing keyboard off would be a simple case of brute force and ignorance, but securing a replacement on well is new to me.

 

How do you do it, if at all? I've also had a look for the palmrest w/ keyboard but couldn't find a UK seller.

I think last time I tried this I either used superglue, araldite or a soldering iron (with lots of ventilation and an old tip you don't mind ruining).

 

One problem we came up with was the shape of the enter key is different on some keyboards (even within the same chromebook model.) Make sure this is the same size or it wont fit your plastics.

We've found Sugru quite useful for similar kinds of things (although we've not tried fixing keyboards with it specificially) - it's a bit like Blutak, but is silicone-based and hardens into a more solid bond.
