newpersn Posted May 28, 2020 Posted May 28, 2020 Hello. Long story short. Person left and I have converted the mailbox to a shared mailbox. Deleted on-perm account and had to restore the mailbox in O365. - I can send emails from the same domain. But when i send external email it bunces back with a Remote Server returned '554 5.4.1 ' I can send externally from the account by not receive email. The account was all working before i deleted the on-prem account. Hybrid setup with Exchange 2010 Any ideas?
newpersn Posted May 28, 2020 Author Posted May 28, 2020 Fixed this. Problems with address still attached the user on the onsite exchange server. (removed user from Contract and it working)

Steve21 Posted July 14, 2020 Posted July 14, 2020 When you made it a shared mailbox, I assume you do mean shared mailbox rather than mail enabled public? Just often that's where a 5.4.1 is from as it's rejecting it to publics (DBEB will block that by default nowadays) Also DBEB wise, I assume you've checked that the new shared mailbox has the right SMTP etc (as in your real domain, rather than onmicrosoft etc) Steve
newpersn Posted July 14, 2020 Author Posted July 14, 2020 (edited) Hi. It was a users mailbox who left. Converted in to a shared mailbox as it was finance. SMTP settings look fine. Edited July 14, 2020 by newpersn
Roberto Posted July 14, 2020 Posted July 14, 2020 Test sending to the onmicrosoft address. I’d that works, change the primary smtp address to something else. If that now works, change it back to what it was.
Steve21 Posted July 14, 2020 Posted July 14, 2020 Well I mean 5.4.1 is still normally one of a few things, Either it's broken MX which should affect everything/mail wise It's DBEB blocking it, which means it's not happy with the address or type (e.g. public folder) Your connector is unhappy if you're using hybrid I'll ask again just because You are sure it's a shared mailbox? (Not public mailboxed enabled folder, or O365 group etc?) and it has finance@ as the primary SMTP (not secondary smtp etc?) If you know you're not going to have some downtime, you could test DBEB by doing Mail flow > Accepted domains -> Edit -> (Change to Internal Relay assuming it's Auth), re-sync AADC and re-try and see if it sends ok. Shouldn't leave it that way long term, but if it's DBEB should remove the block for that test mail Steve
newpersn Posted July 14, 2020 Author Posted July 14, 2020 I can send emails out from this address. But can't send emails to this address from another email account.
Roberto Posted July 14, 2020 Posted July 14, 2020 I can send emails out from this address. But can't send emails to this address from another email account. Did you try what I suggested? What happened? If it doesn’t have an onmicrosoft email address, can you add a secondary email and send to that?
