Chromebooks

We have just recieved some chromebooks to help some children learn remotely.

I haven't had any experience using a chromebooks before.

I'm wondering whaf the best way to set them up?

We use office 365 so that won't be an issue in terms of them using that. I'm just worried about how we go about releasing them.

 

Any suggestions. I'm thinking intune or something but it's near to our anniversary date for ms licensing and its not cost effective.

 

The school have previously used Google for Ed so maybe I can use that for these?

You manage them in the G Suite admin and apply device and user policies a bit like you would in group policy. You need management licences which are around £17 per device - a one-off payment. These get added to your admin console.

I'm going to be getting involved with Chromebooks from next week for remote learning. Started reading up on the guides yesterday, here is a good place to start.

 

From the little research yesterday you can join the chromebooks to your domain allowing users to authenticate using the domain credentials and manage the devices using group policy. However, for remote users you would need to cloud management, Google Admin Centre.

 

I already have a personal GSuite domain and will get some experience of policies on there. If you don't have access I believe you can signup for a free trial, if there isn't a trial it's only a few £/month for a single user.
