My head of 6th form have just asked me about replacing planners for 6th form with some sort of app

Currently we spend around £1k per annum on physical paper planners, with the school now heavily dependent on Office365 with SDS I was wondering if there is some for of integrated solution out there already available?

He wants an app for immediate updates to individual timetables - messaging services etc.

Said he was very confident that it will massively improve communication between staff and students.

Student voice has clearly indicated that they are far more likely to interact and use a planner on their phone than on a piece of paper.

If you use SIMS, try EduLink One as the app for that is in sync with SIMS, has a messaging service, noticeboard etc. You'll find plenty of praise for it on this forum (https://www.overnetdata.com/edulinkone)

We also sync our students timetables up to their Google Calendar (you can do this to O365 too) using Salamander (https://www.salamandersoft.co.uk/) so that might be worth looking into. If you're heavy O365 then you could start to utilise Teams for students perhaps, the app for that will show your calendar etc.

so google/ms calendar and messaging systems. If they really want an "app" then put a manifest.json file on your website so it can be "installed"

+1 for Edulink and there is an App for it. Parents also have access to view their child info.

Our only issue is that we don't use SIMs calendar.. which means no EduLink calendar. Although there are other methods.

Things like Salamander is another annual cost though which is mainly a sync system. We found a cheaper one (don't have the link for it on me).
