Teams Chats - Any way for admins to check them?

Hi all,

 

We are making great use of Microsoft Teams during this closure period but one point that has been raised by the head is the "chats" feature. Is it possible for me to see the chats that are happening between staff and students from O365 admin centre or something similar? I know on Skype for Business it used to put them in a "conversation history" folder in your mailbox but this doesnt appear to be the case anymore. Would rather not turn off the chat feature as both staff and students really like using it but if it cant be monitored I dont think I will have a choice.

Update on this though. I have run an E-Discovery and managed to get what im after. Would be interesting to know if any of you do it differently though.

Supervision is what you want for ongoing and ad-hoc review, you can feed it words, regex's and so on, and it includes case management. Its quite pricey

Yes (not really). I have a client who who wants to do supervision outside O365 but chats for on-premise users are not available to external parties (as they are held in a shadow mailbox in the cloud)

 

Anyhow, here's how you can do it that I had working semi-manually but realistically it is not workable.

 

 

1) Submit a e-discovery request to export all the stuff you want to review

 

2) Drive the godawful export tool from the command line to download the content as EML files

 

3) Probably convert those to MSG files

 

4) Search through them
