InTune Confusion

I am going in circles on this one, I need some help from the experts!

 

We currently have an OVS-ES agreement in place which covers us for the very basic level of Intune and Azure AD management. This agreement is due to end this summer and (I think) we are looking at moving to a Microsoft 365 A3 plan, mainly to get AD Premium, conditional access and Intune for Education. The issue I have is that before Easter I may have a short term project where I could do with a Microsoft equivalent to a Chromebook. I was thinking along the lines of a Surface (possibly a Surface Go) that could sign in using O365 credentials getting SSO to the O365 suite, also I would like to be able to deploy store apps to the device, I don't believe I can achieve this with our current licensing. Trying to search for a solution I see that Microsoft now have Intune device licensing, this sounded promising until I read that it is only for devices that are essentially used in Kiosk mode.

 

Am I stuck until the summer when our new Microsoft licence is due or is there a way around this that I am just not seeing?

Get a trial license (free for at least thirty days) and if you go hunting you may well find a second trial license with far more than you need also gives the P1 functionality you want?
