junz Posted January 26, 2020 Posted January 26, 2020 Hi All, We are looking to setup a proper system to manage our Chromebook repairs (as we are have a 1:1 deployment and currently using a spreadsheet to manage repairs) and was wondering what other people are using for this. Ideally we would like to the following features Import serial numbers from Google admin console Ability to email students/tutor when repairs is completed Ability to track inventory and part costs Ability to import student info from Isams
TechMonkey Posted January 26, 2020 Posted January 26, 2020 Do you have a ticketing system at all? If you do then that may have the features. We use Web Help Desk and that has inventory and cost tracking, can li k to external authentication systems and can take CSV lists of devices. It may be able to import direct from Google though. It also reads a mailbox so students and staff could email in their issue and any response or update would get forwarded on to them.
PotNoodleTech Posted January 29, 2020 Posted January 29, 2020 TBH if you are going to go down the road of a comprehensive repairs system, ideally, it needs to be integrated into the helpdesk system so that each job that comes in can have a repair associated with it if needed. I need a system like this so if anyone finds anything please post!
Duke5A Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 https://osticket.com/ Open source ticketing system used by a neighboring district and we're in the middle of moving over to it. We like what we see so far and even have it authenticating against Google Suite via third party plugin.
TechMonkey Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 GLPI with OCS Inventory is another option for open source. Otherwise SolarWinds Web Help Desk does inventory, Help desk and parts.
Arthur Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 Incident IQ might be worth considering too. It has a helpdesk and asset tracker, is specifically designed for schools and integrates with G Suite.
mavhc Posted February 7, 2020 Posted February 7, 2020 Parago is...ok. The app is a bit weird and moving stuff around is slow, whatever happened to drag and drop? The agent is pretty good though. Not sure there's a good way to export your data if you want to leave, they suggested just making a report and having a massive spreadsheet 1
