Hi,

Students are able to save to This PC, the students are using local profiles c:\Username with redirection enabled. I have enable GPO below

Prevent users from adding files to the root of their Users Files folder".

Hide these specified drives in My Computer Restrict A,B,C and D drives only

Prevent access to drives from My Computer Restrict A,B,C and D drives only

When I look at the properties of the file saved its in there local user profile c:\username\filename

Any help to solve this would be excellent.

Thanks again

My guess is your redirection is not happening. The policies listed would not prevent someone from savings to c:\username\documents for example. Those policies will prevent users from saving to the root of c:\username and prevent users from seeing the c: drive.

Hi Nicholas,

Thanks for the reply. So its in their appdata folder in the user profile on the local machine. Its storing the files in the network shortcut so the files are visible in the network shortcut This PC if that makes sense? I have disabled the quick access with reg files so the users cant see them.

Any other ideas or any gpo you think I have missed?

Thanks again

I believe the GPO you are looking for is under User Configuration/Windows Settings/Folder Redirection. From there you can go into the properties of each folder and choose how you would like to redirect it in the past I have used the basic setting and then for target chose Redirect to the following location and in the settings tab chose Move the contents of Documents to the new location. This should save the files to the network share and keep them off the local hard drive.

Hi,

I think I have found the issue. I have changed one students home drive folder permissions as the owner, and this has worked as expected however how do I change all the home areas to make the students owners and access for administrators and teachers security group in bulk?

Thanks for your help.
