I've got a few freshly imaged W10 1809 PCs that refuse to cooperate with languages. They simply sit at the point saying Searching for English language display pack. Then it stops and nothing has happened.

Is there a way to manually download and install the English Language display pack? otherwise I'll have to reimage them again which seems to be the MS answer to all problems.

IIRC Language Packs are part of Features on Demand now, but can still be downloaded from Volume Licensing and extracted.

e.g. for French:

Microsoft-Windows-LanguageFeatures-Basic-fr-fr-Package.cab

Microsoft-Windows-LanguageFeatures-Handwriting-fr-fr-Package.cab

Microsoft-Windows-LanguageFeatures-OCR-fr-fr-Package.cab

Microsoft-Windows-LanguageFeatures-Speech-fr-fr-Package.cab

Microsoft-Windows-LanguageFeatures-TextToSpeech-fr-fr-Package.cab

There's supposedly a way you can DISM them into the image pre-imaging, but I could never get that to work. Windows would pick up that it 'knew' the language, but couldn't actually do anything with it.

Happy to share my documentation on it so far, though, if you think it might help.

I found that ours would only download the language packs once I enabled the following (I only did this on the local policy using gpedit.msc - but I'm assuming it can be done via GPO)

Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Specify settings for optional component installation and component repair > Enabled > Tick only 'Download repair content and optional features directly from Windows Update instead of Windows Server Update Services (WSUS)

I'm guessing it struggles if WSUS doesn't have the feature components

Cheers, I think I've managed to find a way - downloading the (5.5gb!) language pack ISO from VLSC and using lpksetup and browsing to the mounted ISO.

What a carry on though - now I simply have to fix the broken Windows Update on these PCs....
